These nonprofit solar experts are making your community greener. Find out if your roof can gleam with new solar panels.
Summer is a time for sunburns, sunporches, and, of course, photovoltaic cells. For those of us living in one of Pittsburgh’s charming (read: hilly and tree-lined) neighborhoods, going solar may seem like that European getaway you’ve been pining for – expensive and in distant, croissant-filled lands. But the glorious community resource, Solarize Allegheny, now makes your research a sweat-free process. Simply fill out a consultation form and the already paid for solar installers (grant funding is a wonderful thing!) will inform you of your next steps. The program ends on June 16, 2017, so you need to hurry! Better yet, if you sign on before June 16th, their pre-screened installers will give you $500 off your new shiny solar panels. Croissants may yet be in your future.
To summarize your next steps:
- Get a quick solar quote to determine if and when you may be able to have panels installed.
- Attend a solarize workshop at the Oakmont Carnegie Library on Thursday, June 8 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
- Even if you can’t go solar right now, make sure that you’re using energy wisely and get an inexpensive energy audit.
- If you signed up for a quote through Solarize, you should be contacted by both Energy Independent Solutions and Scalo Solar Solutions. Feel free to reach back out to them or contact firstname.lastname@example.org in case the email got lost in your inbox.
