Training Experience

The WELL Accredited Professional (WELL AP) denotes expertise in the WELL Building Standard and a commitment to advancing human health and wellness in buildings and communities around the world.

The new WELL AP exam is designed to assess a candidate’s understanding of the WELL Building Standard v2 and the WELL Certification Guidebook (plus its addenda). Candidates must have a detailed comprehension of the WELL concepts, including feature requirements and synergies, as well as an understanding of the WELL certification process. GBA’s WELL AP training will help participants gain an in-depth understanding of each of these components, but individual studying will also be required.

This 8-hour workshop, split into two days, dives deeper into the WELL Building Standard, building on introductory presentations to examine key processes within WELL Certification and explore WELL Concepts in depth. The process for developing Alternative Adherence Paths isare discussed in the context of a scenario, as well as procedures for seeking equivalencies, using Crosswalks, and developing innovations. Key public health research provides a basis to consider each WELL Concept in depth, allowing for a greater discussion of how WELL Features address environmental concerns. Finally, preconditions are presented in the context of a project scenario, and a breakout activity, which utilizes expert groups and a project checklist, allows participants to consolidate their learning.

Participants will receive additional information and a detailed course schedule prior to the training.

Prer-Requisites

Before taking this course, participants must first take GBA’s two-hour WELL 101 training, also taught by instructor Pete Jefferson. If you are not able to participate in the live 101 training on August 10, you may reach out to GBA to obtain a recording of that event. By taking that two-hour training first, all participants will start with a similar baseline and be ready to dive deeper into the concepts of the test prep training. Any participant who has already registered for this 8-hour training will receive a registration code so they can attend the prerequisite for free.

Preparing for Your Exam

The International WELL Building Institute now offers the exam at a 50% discount, and it is available to take online. Once you register for the exam, you will gain access to a WELL AP Handbook, Exam Roadmap, and additional Exam Study Resources. Keep in mind that the WELL AP exam will transition from WELL v1 to WELL v2 in September of 2021, and this prep course assumes that participants will be taking the exam under WELL v2
