The students of SHOUT (Social Handprints Overcoming Unjust Treatment) invite you to attend their first annual Religions of the World Panel Discussion.

Co-presented with our friends at Green Building Alliance, this event will provide attendees with the opportunity to hear from and interact with religious leaders from several faith traditions to remind us that we can come together to break down stereotypes and barriers and affirm we are all members of the same family — the human family.  This event will showcase how our similarities are more profound than our differences, including a look at how different religions interpret their responsibility for creation care and environmental stewardship.

The SHOUT student organization was created by long-time GBA partner Dr. Chuck Herring, Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at South Fayette School District, and now has chapters in many schools throughout the region. A nationally acclaimed educator, author, entrepreneur, and speaker, Dr. Herring draws from a wellspring of experience to engage audiences with humor and nuance. Dr. Herring implements the Handprint model, which was originally created by Dr. Gregory Norris in the context of the climate crisis, with a social equity lens. In terms of both the environment and social equity, handprints are intentional acts that heal and offset footprints (harm-causing actions).

The students of SHOUT will host and facilitate this family-friendly discussion and event.  Through the students’ vision for this event, their goal is to transcend cultural differences, socioeconomic statuses, and politics.

This event will be hosted on Zoom and is free to attend, but advanced registration is required. Registered participants will receive the Zoom link and details on the day prior to the event.
