August 14 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT
ReEnergize Pittsburgh Coalition’s Quarterly meeting in August will focus on the Millvale Food & Energy Hub. Zaheen Hussain, Director of Sustainability at New Sun Rising and the Millvale Sustainability Coordinator will present on the Food and Energy Hub project and guide a tour of the building as well as neighboring accomplishments that are a part of Millvale’s Ecodistrict. A brief introduction to ReEnergize Coalition will be given by Matt Mahoney, Western PA Program Manager for Keystone Energy Efficiency Alliance.
Food and Energy Hub is home to New Sun Rising, 412 Food Rescue, Sprezzatura, FrackTracker Alliance of Western PA, and the Food Trust. The building has a 26kW solar array and a battery back-up microgrid system. Energy efficiency renovations include high efficiency HVAC equipment as well as a fully automated LED circadian lighting system. Partially grant funded, the project is also supported through loans as well as revenue generated from tenants. Come and learn about this advanced sustainability project.
