Brought to you by Green Building Alliance and Duquesne Light, this half-day workshop is intended for professionals who want to learn about providing electric vehicle (EV) charging for their employees. Attendees will receive an overview of the state of the EV adoption in the region and learn about local and state programs and incentives to support charging station installation. After reviewing the basics of EV and charging station technology, attendees will hear from an EV-driver on what it is like to drive electric in the Pittsburgh region. An interactive panel will feature employers who already offer EV charging to their employees, representing small and large businesses, companies who lease and own space, developers who offer charging as a benefit to employees of commercial tenants, and municipal authorities. Local EV charging equipment vendors and electrical contractors experienced in charging station installation will be on hand to answer questions about their capabilities.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review electric vehicle technology basics and the benefits afforded by electric vehicles
  • Understand the various levels and attributes of charging stations and how they are used to fuel electric vehicles
  • Evaluate the core aspects of a workplace charging program including; integrating employee charging into existing sustainability activities, setting goals for workplace charging, assessing employee interest and need for charging, procuring and installing charging stations, defining a workplace charging policy, managing workplace charging, and ongoing employee engagement on electric vehicles.
