About Our Presenters
Kara Rubio, Healthy Schools Program Coordinator, at Women for a Healthy Environment. Kara received her Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and has experience working directly in and with schools as a former program coordinator for non-profit organizations. The Healthy Schools PA Program examines data from public schools to assess the environmental and health initiatives of schools in our region.
Bill Davis, Owner of Pittsburgh Mold Men. Mold Men of Pittsburgh began in 2011 after our owner, Bill Davis, began doing extensive research into the damaging effects mold can have on a person and property. Mr. Davis spent over three decades in the fire and water damage restoration business, and realized that there were no great mold removal companies in the greater Pittsburgh area, so he started one.
Herb Layman, Founder & Technical Manager of US MicroSolutions. Herb Layman, BS, SM (ASCP), CIEC has held supervisory positions in hospital and private microbiology laboratories for over 50 years. He has extensive experience in environmental testing, with over 40 years of experience in Legionella sampling, culturing, and identification. This expertise in both clinical and environmental microbiology is valuable when assessing the significance of microbial contamination of the environment.
- Participants will learn how to investigate, evaluate, and remediate moisture & mold problems in their building
- Participants will review best practices around preventing moisture & mold issues in their buildings
- Participants will develop best practices of how to communicate moisture & mold issues to building occupants
- Participants will hear from industry professionals on when to call a professional for remediation work.
