Join us as we paddle along the Allegheny River, enjoying the natural beauty the waterway has to offer. Led by our fearless CEO, Mike Schiller–an expert paddler, naturalist, and green building expert–this adventure will be a trip both into the city’s past and future. Paddling northward from under the Roberto Clemente Bridge, Mike will stop along the way to point out various green buildings visible from the river and share tidbits about local wildlife that inhabit the waterways.
Don’t worry if this is your first time kayaking, as this is flat-water (NOT white-water) kayaking and even easier than riding a bike. There are no rapids, the boats are very stable and easy to steer, and the waters are not infested with sharks or piranhas. As an added bonus for first-time paddlers, there will be a special on-land training exercise before we head onto the river.
Space is limited, so register today to see Pittsburgh from a completely new angle! (If we get fewer than 10 participants, the trip will be canceled and your payment refunded.)
We will launch from Kayak Pittsburgh, which is located on the North Shore directly under the Roberto Clemente (6th Street) Bridge.
