Join GBA staff for an overview of notable trends in the green building industry. Speakers Kara Magoolaghan and Leslie Montgomery will discuss topics such as but not limited to: standards and rating systems, climate demand, social and equitable benefits, and obstacles/challenges facing the industry. We’ll also provide a brief overview of where we stand in our region and opportunities to take part in the movement to a sustainable future.

Kara’s passion for sustainability and interest in energy efficiency drove her to Green Building Alliance, where she works to execute educational events for practitioners of high-performance buildings. Kara holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Binghamton University and is pursuing her law degree at Duquesne University. Kara is a Certified Passive House Designer, TRUE Zero Waste Advisor, and a LEED Green Associate.
Leslie Montgomery is responsible for the development, planning, and implementation of all of GBA’s education, training, and networking. Leslie also facilitates the Pittsburgh Living Future Collaborative and GBA’s Sustainability Leadership Lab, and is an instructor for GBA’s LEED Green Associate and GPRO trainings. She holds a Master of Science in Sustainable Systems, a GPRO Operations & Maintenance credential, and a LEED AP for Building Design & Construction.
