GHSA K-12 Virtual Happy Hour: Rethinking Education during COVID-19
May 14 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm EDT
Green & Healthy Schools Academy K-12 Virtual Happy Hour
Rethinking Education during COVID-19
We are witnessing the world of education shift before our very eyes. Educators are working hard to maintain some type of normalcy in the classroom, while PSSAs are canceled and some school districts are ending the school year early. As education shifts, we want to take a moment to remind ourselves that teaching is more than state standards and dissect some of the educational myths outlined in David Orr’s essay, “What is Education For?”
Read David Orr’s essay, “What is Education For?” HERE: https://www.eeob.iastate.edu/classes/EEOB-590A/marshcourse/V.5/V.5a%20What%20Is%20Education%20For.htm
The first 15 minutes of each Happy Hour will be a brief presentation on the topic, which will lead into a guided discussion. There will be a summary of the reading, so don’t feel like you need to read it to participate in the conversation. The Zoom link will be sent upon registering. Contact Ellen Conrad (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any questions.
This event encompasses United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.
