Join GASP for a week-long, in-depth look at air in Southwestern PA from June 26 – June 30, 2017! GASP, also known as Group Against Smog and Pollution, is a non-profit citizens’ group in Southwestern Pennsylvania working for a healthy, sustainable environment. Founded in 1969, GASP has been a diligent watchdog, educator, litigator, and policy-maker on many environmental issues, with a focus on air quality in the Pittsburgh region.
This day camp has 20 spots for students ages 10-13 throughout Southwestern PA. All spots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and require advance registration. Parents will drop off students at the Environmental Charter School in Regent Square (829 Milton St., Pittsburgh, PA 15218) at 9 a.m. and pick them up by 4 p.m. Students will spend time both inside the classroom and in Frick Park, along with at least 1 off site field trip. Parents will have to provide a packed lunch for their child, a water bottle to drink throughout the day, and warm weather appropriate clothing with walking shoes. (Please no flip flops.) This facility does not have air conditioning. Activities will be led by experienced educators with all necessary clearances.
The cost is $150 per child. Scholarships are available to those who qualify. There will be no refunds for those that cannot attend the whole week. If you do not wish to pay via credit card on EventBrite, you can also mail a check to our office: GASP; Attn: Jessica Tedrow, 1133 S. Braddock Ave, Suite 1A, Pittsburgh, PA 15218 made out to Group Against Smog and Pollution, Inc. Please notify us when to expect it.
Upon completing your registration and making your payment, parents will be required to fill out a packet of information about their child so that we can provide the best care possible. It can be mailed or scanned back to GASP, but it must be received before June 16, 2017. Students may not participate in this camp if GASP has not received this document.
Registration due by June 16, 2017! There are NO refunds available after June 1, 2017 should you no longer be able to attend our camp. However, you can transfer a registration to another child ages 10-13. Your refund will be for $150 registration, not including EventBrite fees.
