EP Education: All About Energy
March 21 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm EDT
GBA’s Emerging Professionals are invited to join us for pizza, beer, and a night of energy education with WGL’s Jamie Habberfield.
Jamie Habberfield works in business development for WGL Energy, focusing on distributed generation and renewable energy. His previous experience with Duquesne Light and Pittsburgh start-up kWantera provided him great insights into our country’s complex energy industry. At this event, Jamie will provide GBA’s Emerging Professionals with basic details about energy production and distribution, as well as an inside look at some coming trends in energy.
How is energy produced? How does it power our buildings and industry? Do people and businesses have a choice in their energy supply? What is distributed energy? What is a micro-grid? Is renewable energy growing in the U.S.? Jamie will answer these questions and more at this intimate and laid-back event designed especially for GBA’s Emerging Professionals.
This event is perfect for Emerging Professionals who would like a basic introduction to how energy is produced and delivered, and those who would like to gain perspective and advice from a fellow young professional who has found niche for himself in the energy industry.
For those Emerging Professionals who are interested, this event can also serve as a useful primer for GBA’s upcoming tour of University of Pittsburgh’s GRID Institute on March 29. In a tour led by Dr. Gregory Reed and Dr. Katrina Kelly-Pritou, we’ll learn how the GRID Institute (located in the Energy Innovation Center) is incubating and developing next generation energy solutions right here in Pittsburgh.
