Emerging Professionals Tour and Tea at the Frick Pittsburgh
March 16 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm EDT$30.00
GBA’s Emerging Professionals are excited to present a tour of the Frick Pittsburgh’s Grable Visitor Center! Join us as we learn about the building’s unique green features, and how its sustainability goals aligned with the mission of the Frick. Following the tour, we’ll enjoy High Tea and conversation at the Café!
Continuing the legacy of Helen Clay Frick, The Frick Pittsburgh offers one of the best experiences of art, history, and nature in a welcoming environment that inspires and delights. At the Grable Visitor Center, museum visitors can learn about the collections held at the Frick, the Frick family history, and explore interactive educational technology to dive deep into the site.
This tour has been developed for GBA’s Emerging Professionals group but all are welcome! If you’re new to the EP group or interested in joining, you can make new friends and professional colleagues and even get to know EP committee members while on this tour. If you’re a more advanced professional, you can get to know the young leaders of tomorrow’s green building movement and offer them your insights and perspectives from the field. This cool winter tour pairs perfectly with a hot cup of tea and warm conversation!
About the Grable Visitor Center
In alignment with the Frick’s commitment to environmental sustainability, the construction of the Grable Visitor Center adheres to LEED standards. Its glass design provides a visual connection to the Frick’s park-like setting, and provides natural daylight. An exterior sun louver system reduces heat-gain and energy consumption required for cooling. Building materials were selected based on recycled and Low-VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) content and, where possible, were harvested and manufactured within 500 miles of Pittsburgh.
Recently, the Grable Visitor Center project was recognized with a Certificate of Merit for Architecture by AIA Pittsburgh in the Design Pittsburgh 2015 juried competition.
