David L. Lawrence Convention Center Tour

The Office of Public Art presents the David L. Lawrence Convention Center Tour on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 7:00 – 8:00 pm. The tour will be led by engineer Angelica Ciranni and will feature the history, architecture, and public art collection of the Convention Center. The David L. Lawrence Convention Center is located at 1000 Fort Duquesne Boulevard, Pittsburgh, 15222. Participants will meet in the East Lobby of the Convention Center and should check-in with an Office of Public Art staff member. Parking is available at the Convention Center.

Guest speaker engineer Angelica Ciranni will introduce tour-goers to the unique features and artwork found at the Convention Center. Ciranni served as the Sports and Exhibition Authority’s (SEA) Project Development Specialist and Sustainability Coordinator from 2008 – 2014 and oversaw the certification of the Convention Center as LEED Platinum for Existing Buildings. Ciranni will provide an overview of the green building movement and the significance of the Convention Center within this movement; the importance and effects of air, storm water, and landscaping on the building’s infrastructure; and the history of the Convention Center’s public art collection that includes works by artists Thaddeus Mosley, Felix de la Concha, with a special viewing of the Convention Center’s rooftop to see its current updates and the restored work by artist Jenny Holzer.
