Air Monitoring Bike Campaign
August 9, 2016
The Kingsley Association in conjunction with the University of Pittsburgh is organizing a Air Monitoring Bike Campaign through the Environmental Justice Community Alert Matrix (EJCAM) project in the months of July and August.
The primary goal of the Bike Campaign is to test the quality of the ambient outdoor air in and throughout Pittsburgh, and to engage community residents in environmental sustainability practices. Overall, creating awareness through youth and community engagement will mold a more environmentally conscious community network. Air quality monitors will be attached to bicycles along with GPS locators to measure Particulate Matter concentrations enabling researchers to identify potential source points and hotspots that may contribute to declining resident health. There is no limit on the number of willing participants. We encourage all riders who own bicycles to join the effort, and to share the information with other interested persons within your network.
Interested persons should email firstname.lastname@example.org or text/call (803)378-3124. Times and dates are outlined in the flyer below.
