In this meeting of the Passive House Alliance Western Pennsylvania Chapter, Nathan St.Germain will present on the design of Colorado’s first Certified Passive House.
Passive House is both a building energy performance standard and a set of design and construction principles used to achieve that standard. This standard is the most stringent building energy standard in the world: buildings that meet the standard use 80 percent less energy than conventional equivalent buildings. Houses are designed to maintain near constant indoor temperature without adding much energy for heating and cooling. Continuous mechanical ventilation of fresh filtered air assures superb air quality and comfort. The standard has emerged from Germany and is now used in more than 65,000 buildings throughout Europe.
Nathan St.Germain, Principal of Studio St.Germain, is a Certified Passive House Consultant and serves on the Board of Directors for the Western Pennsylvania Passive House Alliance Chapter.
