Ben Hochstetler

Program & Resource Coordinator

In his role, Ben supports GBA’s education programming and the Green & Healthy Schools Academy by developing educational materials and organizing resources and information. He also helps plan and host events and gathers information for GBA’s various publications. Ben is the organization’s 2016-17 PULSE (Pittsburgh Urban Leadership Service Experience) Fellow.

While in school, Ben worked extensively in the Goshen College Chemical Stockroom and served as a teaching assistant for various chemistry, biology, and environmental science courses. Additionally, he helped facilitate a connection between Goshen College (Goshen, Indiana) and the Community Clean Water Project (CCWP), a community-run initiative that monitors the health of the Elkhart River and St. Joseph watershed. Most notably, he helped develop a program app that allows the public to update the statewide CCWP database and observe water quality trends over the course of any given time period.

Ben holds a B.A. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Goshen College. While at Goshen, he studied abroad in both Paraguay and Senegal. While in the latter country, he served as a representative for the village of Baback for Heifer International, an organization whose mission is to work with communities to end world hunger and poverty and to care for the Earth.
