Will Allen

Will Allen is a managing partner and co-founder at Nascent Group Holdings, LLC (NGH), a hybrid private equity and venture capital firm that invests in promising start-ups and companies throughout the Rust Belt with the potential for significant growth and societal impact. NGH leverages its diverse team of thought leaders, innovators, experts, and policy drivers to identify opportunities in the region’s developing entrepreneurial ecosystem and has partnered with leading academic institutions, agencies, and operators to commercialize technology and scale growth. In his role, Will co-manages the day-to-day operations and investment and acquisition strategy for the company.

Before founding NGH, Will was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers football team (2004) and most recently played for the Pittsburgh Steelers prior to finishing his NFL career in 2015 after 12 successful seasons. During his collegiate years, he was a member of The Ohio State University 2002 National Championship team that beat the University of Miami and, in his senior year, was named a consensus All-American.

Will received a bachelor’s degree in strategic communications from OSU and a certificate of completion in continuing education courses through the NFL Business Management and Entrepreneurial Programs at Harvard Business School and Kellogg School of Business.  He has also completed internships with the utility company National Grid and U.S. Congressman Bobby Rush (Energy and Power Subcommittee).

Currently, Will sits on the advisory committee for Be a Middle School Mentor that serves middle school students in Allegheny County through the United Way of Southwestern PA.  He is a board member of the Shyne Awards Foundation and established the Will Allen Foundation, which provides tools and resources to Educate + Influence + Empower people in his surrounding community.  His business endeavors include investing in real estate and technology companies.
