The 300 South Craig Street project houses offices, computer labs, CMU Police Department and retail shops. Design team members improved energy performance with the use of a desiccant wheel and provided users with controls to customize their environments. CMU maintains clean and nontoxic interiors.

Sustainable Sites

The renovation of the existing building took place within a local business district. The conversion of the first floor was designed to include pedestrian scale retail space.

Energy & Atmosphere

A desiccant wheel provides energy savings through passive dehumidification. Customized environment controls are provided for occupants as well.

Materials & Resources

Contractors expertly managed construction waste. They also used high-recycled content.

Indoor Environmental Quality

There is a preponderance of low-emitting and non-toxic materials.
