Along with a dedication to green buildings and products, GBA has an interest in ensuring our local workers have the skills they need to survive in a changing economy. That is why we are continually exploring green jobs and training opportunities.
Pittsburgh Green Innovators - is committed to growing a vibrant green economy and community by collaboratively leveraging Southwestern Pennsylvania's strengths through innovation, education, workforce development, and cultivation of sustainable business opportunities.
Green Jobs Advisory Board - GBA is a member of the Green Jobs Advisory Board of Southwest PA (GJAB). GJAB is an alliance of individuals and organizations dedicated to promoting the growth of green business and industry in Southwestern Pennsylvania, creating green jobs.
GJAB members include 40+ educational, vocational, labor, advocacy, governmental, nonprofit, and for profit businesses entities who collaborate on events and job creation programs, sharing information and resources to grow Western PA's green workforce.
The purpose of GJAB is to effectively create pipelines to, advocate for and align green job pathway opportunities in the Pittsburgh region, with an emphasis on historically disadvantaged populations.
Function(s): The function of the Green Jobs Advisory Board is:
- To provide relevant and up-to-date information about green jobs to stakeholders, partners, decision-makers, and the general public.
- Develop an infrastructure that provides support for, promotes collaboration among and increases the impact of stakeholders.
- Connect regional stakeholders and relevant parties across sectors to available resources, information, and tools.
- Promote social justice and equity in green job pathways for disenfranchised populations including minorities, women, un/underemployed individuals, adjudicated youth/adults, formerly incarcerated individuals and low-income persons.
