Green Building Features

Key Green Features: Adaptive Reuse, Local Materials, Salvaged Materials

Sustainable Sites
This adaptive reuse project has transformed a former auto showroom into engineering offices.

Water Efficiency
Low flow plumbing fixtures and ultra low flow urinals are in all restrooms.

Energy & Atmosphere
Insulated and low-e glass windows, high-performance building envelope and roof system that hold interior temperature stable are all sustainable strategies to conserve energy. Natural lighting illuminates the interior offices, reducing the amount of energy used for lighting. A radiant hot water heating system has been installed, utilizing a high-efficiency gas boiler.

Material & Resources
Resource materials were salvaged and reused and regionally manufactured materials in the building process. Construction demolition was properly diverted from the site and recyclables were redirected back into the manufacturing process.

Indoor Environmental Quality
Non-toxic floor surfaces and carpeting were installed in the smoke-free offices. Non- HCFC refrigerants, high-efficiency air filtration, and UV lighting was incorporated in the design. Natural lighting was a key upgrade that the engineering firm lacked at its former location; window-lined walls at the new headquarters increase productivity and employee comfort.

Innovation In Operations
A recycling facility was established to reduce the waste that is generated by occupants.
